Fashion designer Masaba Gupta has revealed the anxiety her mother, seasoned actress Neena Gupta, had to go through before giving birth.
Masaba took to Instagram to share an excerpt from Neena’s autobiography “Sach Kahun Toh,” where the actress talks about having very little money in her account that would be insufficient to afford a cesarean delivery. She also tells how she finally got the money to give birth.
Sharing photographs from Neena’s book, Masaba wrote in an Instagram post: “An excerpt from ‘Sach Kahun Toh’ from @neena_gupta: When I was born my mother had Rs 2000 / – in her bank account. A timely tax refund would push that number up to Rs 12,000 / – and of course I was a cesarean baby. As I read Mom’s biography, I learn so much and the hardships she had to endure. I work really hard every day of my life and I never let anyone give me what I deserve just to make sure I can repay her for bringing me into the world… with interest! #sachkahuntoh #neenagupta.
The excerpt from the autobiography shared by Masaba, reads: “As my due date approached, I started to worry because I had very little money in my account. I could afford a natural childbirth as it would only cost Rs 2000. But I knew that if I had to have a cesarean, I would have problems because the surgery would cost almost Rs 10,000.
“Fortunately, a tax refund of Rs 9,000 came a few days before I gave birth and I ended up with Rs 12,000 in my bank account,” he adds.
“It’s a good thing that this money has arrived, because my doctor informed me that I would need a Caesarean. My father who had come down at the time to help me give birth was livid. He said it was a ploy to make us pay more money, ”he added.
