Govinda was one of Bollywood’s most successful actors in the 80s and 90s. He is considered a mass artist and well known for his burlesque performances and his dancing skills. But did you know that he once lost his temper on the sets of his movie Money Hai Toh Honey Hai? Scroll down to find out.

In 2008, actor Coolie No.1 was filming the director of Ganesh Acharya at the Filmistan studio in Goregaon, where his fan named Santosh Rai sat behind the cast. Between shots, the actor turned to the fan and asked who he was. After the fan replied that he had come to the studio to watch the shoot.

Govinda in an unprovoked fit of rage slapped the fan. The news was very high profile at the time. Later, during a conversation with Times of India, the actor revealed that he took one more step as punishment for the guy who tried to misbehave with female dancers on the film sets.

He said, “Yes, I slapped him. The guy was trying to get too close to the girls. I felt I had to take a stand. The incident did not go well with many. As Govinda was also a Member of Parliament at the time, the incident quickly became a political issue.

Maharashtra Minorities Front, a local organization, urges people to inform them of Govinda’s whereabouts. The actor even erased his position, saying: “The opposition parties are harassing me. Little do they know that I met Sonia Gandhi and made it clear to her that I was working my way. I am convinced that I did not receive the support of the police and the government. “

However, Santosh Rai would later respond by slapping a case against Govinda. The fan even convinced the Supreme Court to order the actor-turned-politician to apologize to him. During a conversation with Business Standard, Rai said he remained weak due to the shock. He said, “Imagine being struck by someone you think of as God.”

Later in 2016, the 57-year-old actor issued an unconditional and Rs 5 lakhs apology to a fan he slapped on film sets in 2008.
