A number of notable events have occurred since the last Saturday Night Live Episode – Violent Attacks on the U.S. Capitol upon Netflix Release Pretend it’s a city – and Weekend Update hosts Michael Che and Collin Jost recapped it all.
With largely missing mentions of former President Donald Trump, Saturday’s Weekend Update segment featured a number of impersonations. Bowen Yang appeared as Fran Lebowitz and Kyle Mooney as an extremely dizzy Martin Scorsese. Both actors took part in the Netflix docu-series which sees the filmmaker in deep conversation with the New York icon and author.
As Yang’s Lebowitz chatted with Che about how she loved and hated New York City, Mooney’s Scorsese hissed non-stop until the game was over.
Beck Bennett also appeared as MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, who has come under fire for meeting Trump after the violent January 6 attacks, which left at least five dead.
“It was just a standard meeting on the pillow,” Bennett said as Lindell. “I just suggested to the military to overthrow the government and if it’s not democracy I don’t know what it is… I’m not a politician, I’m a pillow guy.
Che and Jost also took a number of new Biden shares, from replacing Andrew Jackson with Harriett Tubman on the $ 20 bill, to raising the minimum wage to $ 15 / hour.
