On May 20, 2016, Omung Kumar’s biographical drama Sarbjit hit the screen. The film was based on the life of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1991 for suspected terrorism and espionage. But did you know that Salman Khan played a pivotal role in this man’s struggle for freedom in real life?

Well, it is. The Dabangg actor’s 2012 tweets were an effort to free Sarabjit Singh, but this episode was left out of the film. While in most cases the biopics omit details here and there as part of cinematic freedoms, reports suggest the film’s Salman airbrush decision may have something to do with his past relationship with the principal lady of the film. movie Aishwarya Rai Bachchan aka Dalbir Kaur. .

As reported by First Post in May 2016, Dalbir Kaur and Sarabjit’s daughter met Salman Khan on the sets of Dabangg 2 and asked him to help step up efforts to free Sarabjit. The actor obligated and tweeted much the same as he launched an online signature campaign to free the falsely accused Indian that Sarbjit is based on.

In his tweets, Salman Khan wrote: “Sarabjit got lost in Pakistan 3 months after the explosions was taken into custody as a manjit singh, case of false identity. 22 years in prison ”In another tweet, he added:“ 4 FIRs filed did not contain the name or description of sarabjits. Sarabjit was arrested on August 30, 1990 at the illegal border crossing of Kasur 4 at 2 pak.

However, this incident was omitted from the biographical drama directed by Omung Kumar. Reports even suggest that Salman and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are not speaking, perhaps why the makers edited this Sarbjit detail. At the same time, a spokesperson for the film cited another reason why actor Radhe was not in the film. The spokesperson said that since Sarabjit’s struggles were ubiquitous and, as a result, the Salman chapter was dropped from the film.

Now let us ask you a question. Isn’t it ironic that a movie based on Dalbir Kaur’s fight and efforts to free his innocent brother Sarabjit from a death sentence would rule out an effort by a star like Salman Khan? Sarabjit Singh died in May 2013, less than a year since Salman launched the campaign which could have been helped to prove his innocence.

Omung Kumar’s Sarbjit starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda, Richa Chadda and Darshan Kumar.
