Actor Vicky Kaushal, producer Ronnie Screwvala and director Aditya Dhar who first joined hands for Uri: The surgical strike will then meet for the film titled The Immortal Ashwatthama. The film is a modern day superhero film based on King Ashwatthama of the Mahabharata. The film also stars Sara Ali Khan in the lead.

The film crew have been preparing for what is said to be one of the costliest Hindi films for the past two years. Vicky and Sara have been preparing for their roles for a few months and are learning new forms of action. And now, according to reports, the film is due out in September and it will be a five-month schedule. The makers plan to finish filming by January of next year and invest time in post-production.

Initially, the directors had decided to shoot the film widely in European countries. However, due to the covid situation and the uncertainty it entails, the manufacturers have decided to shoot in the United States and Iceland with India.

The film is heavy on post-production and the directors aim to meet international standards. The film will be ready for release in 2023.
