I have a feeling that Alfred Hitchcock would have been a player.
Before we go too deep, I have to admit that I’m not a great player. I have a console and I play the ones that are famous or loved, but I don’t dig into the hidden gems too much. But when I heard they were making a video game out of an Alfred Hitchcock film, I thought I had to broaden my horizons a little more.
Turns out it sounds kind of cool?
Recently French video game publisher Microids announced that Pendulo Studios is under development Alfred Hitchcock – vertigo, a video game billed as a psychological thriller. The game is slated to appear on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One and PC. It is expected to decrease by the end of 2021.
So how is that dizziness?
The game features multiple timelines that the editor said the player must “separate reality from deceptive memories” and guide the main character through the game.
The official recap of the game reads: “Author Ed Miller emerged unscathed from his car accident in Brody Canyon, California. Although no one was found in the wrecked cars, Ed insists he was out with his wife and daughter. Traumatized At this event, he begins to suffer from severe dizziness. When he starts therapy he will try to find out what really happened on that tragic day. ”
Josué Monchan, Narrative Designer at Pendulo Studios, said in a statement: “Of course, Alfred Hitchcock’s film was an important source of inspiration, be it in terms of the themes of the game, its narration, or even the visual techniques we used, the Hitchcock’s recurring cinematography clearly reflect techniques. dizziness is not our only frame of reference. For example, the fact that therapy is at the center of the narrative echoes Banned, and some characters resemble protagonists Rebecca, Psycho, and many more.”
I honestly can’t believe it took this long before someone thought Hitchcock’s work belonged in a video game. He had the best characters, thrills, and moral questions. During the film of dizziness doesn’t feel like an obvious translation, I love the way they picked up on his ethos and used it to create something that the player must challenge themselves with as the driving force of the game.
Are you excited to play it?
