Unanimous Media & Pathways Alliance ARM Develops Feature Adaptation of ‘The Other Wes Moore’ – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Unanimous Media’s new development arm, Pathways Alliance, adapts Wes Moore’s bestseller, The other Wes Moore: one name, two destinies for the big screen.

The book is based on the true story of two men of the same name who lived a few blocks from each other in Baltimore and ended up in very different places. Author Moore is a Rhodes Scholar, Army Officer, White House Scholar, and is currently CEO of a prominent New York-based anti-poverty foundation, Robin Hood. The other Wes Moore is serving a life sentence for participating in a robbery where an off-duty officer was killed. It is a story that shows that family support and societal intervention play an important role in the lives of young men in the city center.

Unanimous Media Promotes Jenelle Lindsay to Executive Vice President of Film & Television, Hires Brian Tetsuro Ivie as Creative Producer

Stephen Curry and Erick Peyton will serve as executive producers for Unanimous Media, with Kalyna Kutny and Brian Tetsuro Ivie serving as creative producers. Producer Joe Pichirallo (The Secret Life of Bees, Madoff) is also attached to the project.

“I am delighted to be working closely with Steph Curry and Unanimous Media to bring this story to the screen. It is a story of loss and hope. Shattered dreams and unforeseen opportunities. And I am delighted that the world is seeing another manifestation. Moore said.

Curry and Peyton said, “Unanimous is thrilled to partner with film veteran Joe Pichirallo to bring Wes’ story to life. This is exactly how we envisioned the operation of our Alliance Pathways, harnessing our ecosystem to uplift our authors and create opportunity through our partnerships with industry.

The other Wes Moore is an authentic and compelling story that speaks of our time, ”said Pichirallo. “I am delighted to be working in partnership with Wes Moore and Unanimous Media.”

This is the second book to be developed by Pathways Alliance. It was recently announced that Cole Brown’s book Greyboy: in search of darkness in a white world was taken over by ABC Signature to become a television series.

Pathways Alliance was created to be an immersive production experience designed to foster the development of refreshing new stories and to support the next generation of authors. Curry selects authors to be part of his underrated book club. Each month, the 3x NBA champion and double MVP selects a new book to read with his club: deep sports and social justice stories that will encourage his readers to push the limits and achieve greatness. It seeks to identify and spotlight writers with incredible talent but few opportunities – stories of women, people of color and other overlooked voices.
