As expected, here’s more change to the Q1 theatrical release schedule: Universal Amblin Entertainment’s Biographies, which stars Tom Hanks, will now open on August 13, replacing an untitled Blumhouse movie that Uni had there.
The photo, taken by Miguel Sapochnik, was dated April 16. Written by Craig Luck, who is making his feature writing debut, and Ivor Powel (associate producer of Blade runner and Extraterrestrial), Biography takes place on a post-apocalyptic land, where a robot, built to protect the life of its creator’s beloved dog, learns about life, love, friendship, and what it means to be human.
Biography is currently scheduled against Screen Gems / Sony Don’t breathe 2, and 20th century studio thriller Deep waters with Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas.
Producers of Biography are Kevin Misher, Jack Rapke, Jacqueline Levine and Powell. The EPs are Oscar winner Robert Zemeckis, Luck, Sapochnik, Andy Berman and Adam Merims.
Universal just released Hanks’ western World news for this year’s awards season, which critics rated 87% as certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic with 60% of theaters nationwide closed during the holiday season, the film has not performed well at the domestic box office with $ 8.7 million to date in the United States. As Deadline first reported, Uni sold the World news to Netflix in order to put money on the film.
