The new Tokina 25-75mm T2.9 creates a trio of Super 35 lenses.
Tokina added the 25-75mm T2.9 cine zoom lens to complement the 11-20mm T2.9 and 50-135mm T2.9 MK II with breathing and low distortion.
The Tokina 25-75mm T2.9 is a parfocal lens that can cover image circles up to 36mm. It’s available in PL, EF, MFT, E, and F versions and goes well with a range of cameras from RED, Blackmagic Design, Canon, and Panasonic. For full-frame recordings, Tokina has the Cinema 1.6x expander for PL or EF mount, which transforms the lens into 40-120 mm T4.2.
Better still, all of the lenses in the series have an interchangeable mount that allows you to easily switch from one camera body to the next.
If you are looking for a lens that offers full frame coverage without an expander, Tokina has its # 16-28 mm T3.0 zoom that covers image circles up to 45.1 mm.
Visually, the 25-75 mm T2.9 has 18 elements in 15 groups and an opening range up to T22. All three lenses have the same filter size of 86 mm and the same front diameter of 95 mm, so that changing lenses on the set is painless. Standard 0.8 m gears are available for the iris, focus and zoom.
The Tokina 25-75mm T2.9 is available for pre-order now for $ 4,999 and is expected to ship in July.
Tokina is also offering the three lenses as a set for $ 12,000.
