The Simpsons host was 46 – Deadline

the Simpsons Host, designer and assistant director Edwin E. Aguilar died in Los Angeles on Saturday, two days after a stroke. He was 46 years old.

While news of Aguilar’s passing was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, it was also noted on Sunday by The simpsons executive producer, Matt Selman. “We the @TheSimpsons family mourn the loss of host Edwin Aguilar,” he tweeted, “a talented artist and a beloved source of love and inspiration to all.”

There were reports that Aguilar’s health had been declining for years, given his battle with diabetes and heart problems. Several years ago, the artist had a stroke, from which he recovered.

Born in the region of San Miguel in El Salvador in 1974, Aguilar turned to comics very early on. At the age of 9, he fled his homeland – which was in the midst of a civil war – alongside his brother, to avoid being drafted into an army of children. He then moved with his family to East Los Angeles, where he worked to avoid gang life, then attended ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena and studied animation at Bridges Visual Institute in Santa Monica.

Working in animation at companies such as Graz Entertainment and Hanna-Barbera, he would then work with iconic filmmaker and designer Chuck Jones on short films for Warner Bros., landing at The simpsons in 1998. Over the years, Aguilar has ranked many roles in longtime comedy Fox, including a storyboard revisionist, animator, animator, screenwriter, and character designer. His most enduring roles have been as character designer (1999-2021) and assistant director (2007-2021).
