‘The Simpsons’ hit a bit too close to home for fan Ted Cruz – Deadline

Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz is criticized for making a trip to Cancun as his Texas voters suffer from a lack of electricity, heat and water.

Cruz catches him from the Internet community for this conduct, which led to a flood of memes and the resurrection of an episode of The simpsons it can make the fire worse. The parody hits a bit too close to home for the Senator (who, incidentally, claims to be a fan of the show).

The episode in question aired on May 6, 1993. Title Margin in chains, Mayor Quimby says he is canceling travel plans to the Bahamas to deal with a pandemic that has enveloped Springfield.

Quimby tells everyone to stay home, but he’s actually on a beach, wearing a jacket and tie over his swimsuit, pretending to be at work in his office. A nearby steel drum soloist threatens to deliver him.

The wave of indignation saw a reprimanded Cruz apologize.

“It was obviously a mistake and with hindsight I wouldn’t have done it”, told reporters, by NBC. “I understand why people are upset.”

Homer Simpson has not commented yet.
