The New Hollywood release, The Courier was released this weekend. It wasn’t a wide version, so the awareness around it was quite low and definitely the openness wasn’t significant either.
Releases like Chaos Walking, Raya & The Last Dragon & Tom & Jerry continued to hold steady on the lower side and added a bit more to their overall total.
According to Box Office Mojo star Benedict Cumberbatch, The Courier took a nationwide opening of $ 2.01 million which is small compared to the very opening of Chaos Walking. The film has been released in 1,433 theaters in the United States. International numbers are expected.
Chaos Walking with Tom Holland in the lead, released earlier this month, added $ 1.9 million to its national total. With total activity of $ 9.69 million in the United States, everything is set to cross the $ 10 million mark. The latest overseas markets update has yet to arrive and the numbers until last weekend were $ 5 million. The total worldwide revenue according to the latest calculation is $ 14.69 million.
Raya and the Last Dragon led the weekend standings with national numbers of $ 5.2 million. This brings the film’s total sales in the United States to $ 23.43 million. Even internationally, it raised $ 37.16 million, bringing global revenue to $ 60.60 million.
Tom and Jerry have taken one step closer to their $ 100 million goals. The film has raised an additional $ 3.8 million in the United States, while bringing total domestic sales to $ 33.7 million so far. Its international business also reached $ 43.5 million from $ 38.7 million last weekend. The film’s worldwide turnover so far is $ 77.2 million.
All eyes are now on Godzilla vs Kong which is slated for release on March 31, 2021. The film will be released a week earlier in India, select European countries and Taiwan and it will be interesting to see how it plays out around the world.
