The eagerly awaited Friends: Reunion a special episode was released on ZEE5 in India on Thursday at noon. Die-hard fans of the American sitcom are now taking a trip down memory lane. The special meeting was finally released after being delayed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The main actors of the American sitcom, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, will share memories of when they filmed the original ten seasons. But did you know how much money you won for the reunion special? Read on to find out.
As reported by AP News, each of the six actors in Friends received $ 2.5 million in compensation for the reunion episode, which was filmed over two days. This figure comes down to INR 18.19 crore. Ben Winston directed the unscripted special and also the executive production with Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane.
Recently, the director opened up on why Paul Rudd, Cole Sprouse, and other special appearances made by other stars weren’t included in the series. Speaking to The Wrap, he said, “Well, we couldn’t get everyone involved because it’s only an hour and 45 minutes. And you have to be careful – the heart of the show has to be about the six cast members. So you can’t have too many cameos because of course there were hundreds of amazing people who have been in “Friends” over the years. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get everyone in.
The Amis de la Réunion filmmaker also said: “You know, we invited people who couldn’t do it. It’s a complicated time to do TV now because, you know, some people couldn’t fly overseas, some people were on other TV or movie sets, some people are in bubbles on things. .
Ben Winston added, “I think during a pandemic it’s really hard to get everyone where you want to be. And the other thing, of course, is that we don’t have any flexibility. It was a night that these six [main cast members] were available. The timing was incredibly difficult. So you know if you weren’t available on April 7th at 8pm then unfortunately they weren’t able to be a part of it. Yeah, we couldn’t get everyone in. It’s just one of those things. I hope people will think about all the great things that are in there rather than the ones that are not.
