A Kerala High Court bench on Wednesday relieved Bollywood actor Sunny Leone and two of his close associates of being arrested following a complaint filed by an event manager in Kochi over a suspected fraud case.
The court asked the Kerala Police Crime Branch investigating the case not to arrest the three until they receive notifications in accordance with criminal proceedings.
Earlier this month in the state capital, the actress was questioned by Kerala police at a private compound in the same case, where she explained the entire sequence of events and claimed she had nothing wrong.
R. Shiyas, who runs events in and around Kochi, had filed a complaint with the Kerala DGP that Sunny Leone took 29 lakh of rupees from him while promising to attend various inaugural functions in the state, but hadn’t.
The complainant said her supervisor took money in installments starting in 2016, promising to attend five functions. But the same did not happen, and later he complained to the police.
According to her, while admitting that her manager had taken the money and given dates on several occasions, the event manager could not keep her dates and as a result the problem arose.
With the relief of the court, Sunny Leone and his associates will have to cooperate with the police investigation team.
