ShotDeck is the perfect resource for searchable movie images

This online library was created by cameraman Lawrence Sher.

When cinematographer Lawrence Sher appeared on the No Film School podcast to talk about filming joker (2019) he mentioned ShotDeck, a company he founded that has grown into the largest collection of searchable movie images found online.

Sher, who is known for his work on Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), the Male cat Series and Garden state (2004) quietly worked on the project with a group of industry veterans, and it has become a favorite among filmmakers, production designers, art directors, and pretty much any filmmaker looking for inspiration.

How to use it

The Oscar-nominated cinematographer developed ShotDeck to quickly and efficiently find resource material to communicate his vision for upcoming projects.

For example, let’s say you’re creating a mood board, storyboard, or pitch deck. To visualize our thoughts, many of us searched Google images and crossed our fingers in hopes of finding the exact image that matches the tone and idea of what we want to convey. And even if you do find it, many of the images are often low resolution. This is where ShotDeck comes in.

With ShotDeck you can search for images in the extensive film database and filter them accordingly. The database is provided with 30 different categories and contains over 50 key words with important information such as genre, lenses, frames, lighting, locations and color. The platform also allows you to create decks and share them with employees.

You can even stream the film on different platforms via the ReelGood integration. Better still, the website is full of high definition images and is constantly updated with new movies that are announced on the website Blog.

You can access ShotDeck for around $ 13 a month. When you buy an annual pass, you get a discount that saves you around $ 40. If you are a student or a teacher, there are also discounts. If you are interested, there is also a two-week trial version.
