Shankar responds to producer Anniyan’s allegations against Hindi remake with Ranveer Singh: Bollywood News

Ranveer Singh recently announced his association with director Shankar for the remake of Anniyan in hindi. However, just after a day of announcing the film, the film landed in legal soup. Earlier today, Anniyan Producer V Ravichandran called Shankar for advertising the film without his permission and making it illegal. He said he was the sole owner of all rights to the film and that a remake of the film could not be made without his permission.

A few hours after V Ravichandran’s public letter, Director Shankar responded to it. He said he owns the script, the story of the film and that he was credited for the same in the film. In the letter he wrote: “Greetings for the day, I am shocked to receive your mail dated 04/14/2021 stating that you own the script for the film. Anniyan. “

“In this context, I submit that the film was released in 2005 and that everyone associated with the film was aware that the script and the script are mine exclusively and in fact the film was released with the tag: Story, Screenplay and Direction by Shankar. I have not assigned any scripts or scripts in writing to anyone and I continue to retain the right to use the script in any manner I deem appropriate. As a recognized author of the literary work, my rights cannot be altered in any way, ”he added.

“I’m rather surprised to see the reference to the late Sri Sujatha, as he was only hired by me to write dialogue for the film and was therefore credited. He was not involved in the script, script or characterization in any way, and there is no scope beyond his engagement as a dialogue writer, ”he wrote.

“Since the script is my responsibility, I have every right to use it in any way I see fit. In fact, you / your entity do not have the right to remake or create derivative rights for “Anniyan”, as such rights have not been granted to you in writing. In the absence of any written assignment from me, there can be no basis for even asserting that the “script” is yours. As a producer, you have profited greatly from the success of the film “Anniyan” and needlessly try to enrich yourself unfairly even in my future endeavors which have nothing to do with you. Needless to say, I can only hope that common sense will prevail over you after this clarification and that you stop making such baseless claims. This response is issued without prejudice and to clarify the real situation of me as a director and writer being the subject of such greedy and illegal allegations in an unnecessary attempt to jeopardize my future plans, ”Shankar concluded.
