Friday evening, three crew members involved in the French suite Serial weddings (bad) 3 died in a car accident near Châtellerault.
A fourth crew member, also in the car, was taken to Poitiers CHU in critical condition. News of the collision was first reported by a French publication, The New Republic.
While none of the crew have yet been named, those who died were aged 19, 47 and 49. The head-on accident happened around 9 p.m., after the group had finished filming the day. In the other car caught in the accident, there was only one person, who left the scene slightly injured, according to firefighters.
French police known as the gendarmerie are currently investigating the accident, to confirm the cause. As is usually the case with fatal accidents, blood alcohol and drug tests have been carried out, although the results have not yet been released.
Production on Serial weddings (bad) 3 had just started on the day of the accident, and while a four-day filming in Châtellerault was scheduled, it has now been stopped.
Premiere in 2014, Series (bad marriages) centered on a French Catholic couple whose life was turned upside down because their four daughters married men of different religions and origins. Directed by Philippe de Chauveron, the comedy was an international success, totaling a total (in US dollars) of 174.1 million. With Chantal Lauby, Christian Clavier and Ary Abittan, the continuation of the film, Serial weddings (bad) 2, was released in 2019.
