The Rajasthan High Court on Friday allowed Bollywood actor Salman Khan to appear in the blackbuck poaching case via video conference. The actor had requested permission for the same on Thursday. The district and sessional court is expected to hear the case on February 6.

The hearing in the case by the District and Sessions Judge focuses on two appeals, one by Salman Khan challenging his five-year sentence by a lower court in a two blackbucks poaching case and another by the government of Rajasthan challenging the acquittal of the co-accused Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam Kothari, Sonali Bendre and local person Dushyant Singh.

Actor HM Saraswat’s attorney reportedly said the sitting judge ordered Khan to appear in person after 17 exemptions at the hearing. The lawyer asked the CH to ask the actor to virtually attend the hearing.

In his plea to the court, counsel cited the pandemic situation and said Khan had witnessed huge crowds whenever he appeared in court and such gatherings were not justified during those times. The advocacy also stressed that it was not just a matter of personal safety, but also a law enforcement situation.
