Ryan Reynolds has ended speculation about his Green Lantern making an appearance in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Justice League, disappointing some hopeful fans on Twitter.
Rumors of Reynold’s return as Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern, resurfaced on Monday in a report from Vanity Fair which revealed that Snyder’s highly anticipated cut will feature an end with “a hero cameo it will blow the minds of die-hard fans. While fans shared their choices for who they’d like to see when Snyder Justice League premieres on HBO on March 18, one name has appeared more than others – Hal Jordan. In 2011, Reynolds starred as Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern, in the 2011 Martin Campbell film.
“That’s not me. But what a cool cameo pirate flag as Hal,” Reynolds said after a Twitter user responded with a gif from actor Campbell’s movie. “Be another GL? But for me, the suit stays in the closet. I mean, computer.”
Reynold’s confirmation comes nearly six months after he tweeted that he “would love to be in Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie” and that after “hearing that maybe I’m already in it?” Now that fans know that Reynold’s Green Lantern won’t pass, they can certainly look forward to another hero worthy of surprise.
More than a month before the film’s scheduled release and Snyder’s trailer Justice League has already recorded more than 19 million views on YouTube. While the teaser may feature images familiar to the 2017 film, which Joss Whedon completed, the first glimpse reveals some new faces, including Jared Leto’s Joker and Darkseid.
