EXCLUSIVE: Fox is developing untitled single camera comedy written by and starring The daily show correspondent Roy Wood, Jr. He will produce the project with fellow actor-comedian Denis Leary as well as Jack Leary via the father-son duo’s Amoeba production banner. Fox Entertainment is the studio.
On the show, working in the service of a group of ungrateful Americans, members of the often-forgotten National Guard use their time on national deployments to find new ways to congratulate themselves, even if they don’t deserve it. While honoring their commitments to their community, their family and their daily work.
The project stems from the development agreement Denis Leary, star of the Fox comedy series Moodys, signed with Fox Entertainment in July.
Denis Leary and Wood recently worked together on the topic of football Dogs playing poker animated shorts, produced by Fox Entertainment’s Bento Box, shown on Fox’s NFL coverage.
Wood is picked up by WME, Mainstay Entertainment and Del Shaw Moonves. Leary is represented by WME and Ziffren Brittenham.
