Rajkummar Rao and Jhanvi Kapoor Roohi’s Day 1 box office collection appears to be decent and this is the first major Hindi release in a time of a pandemic as she tries to challenge the opening of Wonder Woman 1984.
Roohi Box Office Collection Day 1
2-3 Net estimate of Crore
Cinemas in Maharashtra are affected again due to Covid, there is only 50% occupancy allowed and there are nighttime curfews and this has caused problems. Punjab is also an affected state, with Delhi / NCR the only hope for this film. Single screens in interiors are also largely closed, so its multiplexes are mostly up.
Roohi Advance Box Office Collection
Roohi had collected a lead of 35 Lakhs for a long weekend in which the national multiplexes collected 28 lakhs with 16,500 tickets sold to PVR, Inox and Cinepolis. PVR sold 9,200 tickets, Inox sold 4,500 and Cinepolis sold 2,700 tickets. Advance booking on opening day is 20 Lakhs pan India. Advance booking, however, is lower than the latest version before the average Angrezi pandemic
Roohi’s budget is 35 Crores
Production cost: 25 Crore
Impressions and cost of advertising: 10 Crores
Roohi comes out in around 1,500 screens across India as only multiplex screens are open and most single screens are closed due to lack of Hindi content and lack of clarity on large Hindi versions while Sooryavanshi appears to be postponed
Roohi Hit or Flop
Roohi will be hard-pressed to collect as this is the first big movie after the pandemic and its release in itself is a big win. Box office conditions aren’t really good in India for roohi but it’s a long process and roohi is a first step in the direction other films will win.
The digital rights have gone to Netflix and Jio while its satellite rights are with Star Plus which will cover most of the costs. Theatrically, we don’t expect roohi to cover its costs due to the pandemic.
