Deadline’s Read the Screenplay series, which highlights the most animated scripts of awards season, included 12 films that received Oscar nominations on Monday morning.
In Screenplay Races, this year Deadline featured seven of 10 films, including all five films nominated in the Adapted Screenplay category: Amazon Studios’ Next movie Borat and One night in Miami, Sony Pictures Classics’ The father, Searchlight’s Nomadland and Netflix The white tiger.
There are also two scripts that were given names in the Original Screenplay category: Warner Bros’ Judas and the Black Messiah and A24 Minari.
Other nominees for the original screenplay this year were Focus Features’ Promising young woman by Emerald Fennell; Amazon Studios’ Sound of metal by Darius Marder & Abraham Marder, with a story by Darius Marder & Derek Cianfrance; and Netflix The Chicago 7 trial written by Aaron Sorkin, who won the Oscar for Adapted Screenplay in 2011 for Social network.

Among the group of scenarios operated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences this morning, four of the films – Judas and the black Messiah, the father, Minari and Nomadland – received nominations for best film, as did Mank, which leads all nominees with 10. It was also featured in the Read Screenplay series and is included below along with the other nominees World news (with four names in total) from Universal, choice of animation Soul from disney and Above the moon from Netflix and Hulu USA vs Billie Holiday which earned star Andra Day a nomination for Best Actress.
