Actor Rahul Bhat had to shoot naked for the upcoming film called Man Naked. He says the challenge was that the two-hour film was canned as a one-shot project.
Man Naked revolves around a struggling 40-year-old actor named Ronnie who realizes his career is over. He gets drunk and passes out naked, only to hear the doorbell in the middle of the night. In a bizarre turn of events, her fate changes as her nude music videos go viral and Ronnie becomes a star.
The film is directed by debutant Sanjeev Kaul, who has carved out a place for himself in the theater.
It’s rare for an actor to lay bare everything in Indian movies, and the unit had to go through several mock shoots with a real camera and technicians to get it right in one fell swoop.
“The challenge of doing this part was not only that it was a one-shot movie, but also that I had to be totally naked for most of it and also I had to remember quite a pros of. ‘Soul of Lilith’ and perform the monologue in the middle of one hit in one take, ”said Rahul.
Director Kaul said: “I wanted to portray an actor who is struggling to break the formula for success and bring his talent to the world. The film follows him through a night in Mumbai and how his life changes after an incident.
He added: “The idea to shoot the film entirely in one shot came from the need to be with our protagonist at every step and to blend in with his environment as he sees it.”
The film has been screened at several film festivals. He was a finalist at the Tokyo International Film Festival and a semi-finalist at the Montreal Film Festival. The film is an official selection at Venice Shorts, the Cannes Independent Film Festival, the Goa Film Festival and a winner in the Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director category at the upcoming International Film Festival.
