Salman Khan’s film Radhe: Your most wanted Bhai is one of the most anticipated films of 2021. The film was originally slated for theatrical release, but will now be released on ZEE5 with ZEE’s pay-per-view service ZEEPlex. The latest report now reveals the amount guaranteed by the sale of the film to the OTT platform.
Salman’s films are nothing less than a celebration for his die-hard fans. His fans usually never cared about the reviews and flocked to theaters anyway. And when it was confirmed that Prabhudeva’s film was getting a hybrid release, fans and theaters weren’t too happy about it.
Now, according to the Latesly report, Salman Khan’s Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai to the OTT partner. A source told the publication, “Radhe was sold to the OTT partner at somewhere between Rs 220-250 crore. I do not understand the need for Salman Khan to opt for a dual version. Many producers are taking the OTT route because they need the money. What is the reason for Radhe?
The film was billed as an EID release and the single screens benefit the most from those films that are shown in the gallery. On top of that, it’s a version of Eid. It should be noted that most of his films have done insane deals on this auspicious occasion. The exhibition industry in India has been going through a crisis due to COVID-19 for a year now anyway, so Radhe’s divided release is seen as a death sentence.
The film Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai by Salman Khan, directed by Prabhudeva, is produced by Sohail Khan with ReelLife Productions. It hits theaters and ZEEPlex on May 13. The trailer will be released tomorrow.
ZEE Studios is apparently the first studio in India to adopt a multi-format version worldwide. Speaking of this, Shariq Patel, CBO, Zee Studios said, “The ongoing pandemic has forced us to innovate, and we are proud to be the first to embark on this new distribution strategy. While we all love watching the latest movies in the closest theaters, we realized that we would be doing Salman fans across the country a disservice if we aren’t able to hit theaters in all states of India. We felt the need for a pay-per-view solution with theaters, which gives consumers the flexibility and convenience to watch the movie. There can be no better film than Radhe to offer to audiences who have been waiting for an outdoor artist for over a year now. Radhe continues our network’s deep relationship with Salman Khan and we plan to release the film in over 40 countries, including a theatrical release in major overseas markets.
