Prince Harry became one of the first senior royals to comment The crown after the show became a cultural phenomenon for Netflix.
In an interview with James Corden on CBS The late show, The Duke of Sussex admitted he had watched the lavish Left Bank Pictures series, and said it provided a window into the pressures that come with being a British royal.
In genuinely revealing exchanges, Prince Harry told Corden: “They don’t pretend to be news. It is fictitious. But it is loosely based on the truth. Of course, that’s not strictly correct, of course not, but it gives you a rough idea of that lifestyle, the pressures of putting duty and service before family and everything in between. which may result from it.

In a beard aimed at the British press, Prince Harry added: “I am much more comfortable with The crown that I see the stories written about my family or my wife or myself. Because [The Crown] is obviously fiction, take it as you like. But it is reported as a fact because you are supposed to be news. I have a real problem with this.
Prince Harry’s comments seem to suggest he is comfortable with the fact that The crown does not include a warning that it is a work of fiction. Season 4 of the Peter Morgan drama has stirred up criticism for applying a creative license to real-life events, prompting the UK government to write to Netflix asking for a warning to be added to the show.
“It’s a beautifully produced work of fiction, so like other TV productions, Netflix should be very clear at first, that’s just it,” Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said last year.
And as to who Prince Harry thinks he should play himself, his answer has been Damian Lewis – despite the fact that the Country and Billion the actor is 14 years his senior. “Damian Lewis like you and me like William is the cast,” Corden joked. “It’s not a great cast, but it’s a cast,” Harry replied.
Prince Harry Quotes On The crown may be more favorable than the royal press briefings on the series, but it’s not really in the Duke’s best interests to target Netflix. Since moving to Los Angeles, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have signed a multi-year deal with the streamer for scripted series, documentaries, documentaries, feature films and children’s programming.
