EXCLUSIVE: Cosby lounge Phylicia Rashad teamed up with Virgin river executive producers Roma Roth and Christopher E. Perry will executive produce and possibly star (timeline permitting) in a serial adaptation of Emily March’s 18-part novel series Eternity Springs. Writer John E. Pogue (Beauty and the Beast, Everwood) is attached to the pen adaptation of the series.
Roth and Perry of Reel World Management will be the executive producers along with Rashad and Pogue. RWM’s Rosana Roth will serve as co-producer. A network is not yet connected. RWM and Rashad are preparing to bring the series to market.
The storyline is still under wraps, but the producers say the series will explore important and meaningful issues of today while attracting a diverse and multigenerational audience.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Phylicia Rashad, an extraordinary and talented actress whose impressive work not only laid the groundwork for inclusivity, but opened the door to change in Hollywood at a time when it was not so fashion to do it, ”said Roth.
Rashad became a household name when she described Claire Huxtable on The Cosby lounge, earn numerous honors and awards for the role. She recently appeared on Netflix Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey and can be seen as Carol in NBC’s flagship drama series It’s us. His other recent credits include Soul, Fox Empire and Tarrell’s Alvin McCraney Peabody Prize winning series David makes the man, on OWN.
Rashad is replaced by Innovative Artists and Barbra Korn from BKEntertainment. The March deal was negotiated by Christina Hogrebe and Meg Ruley of Jane Rotrosen Agency LLC.
