UPDATE: On Saturday afternoon, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were involved in a fatal shooting, which resulted in one death.
According to agent Rosario Cervantes of the LAPD’s media relations section, the incident occurred at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue at 2:37 pm No further details were provided for the moment.
News of the shooting follows a major traffic stop on Sunset Blvd. earlier today.

EARLIER: One of Hollywood’s main thoroughfares was closed in both directions on Saturday afternoon after a police shootout.
An NBC-TV news chopper was on the Sunset and Fairfax stage and appeared to show a body with blood on the street. The police invaded the scene.
The scene also showed a black vehicle in contact with a Los Angeles Police Department vehicle. The LAPD unit had a damaged driver’s side window.
The LAPD confirmed the shooting but had no details of what had happened or of possible injuries.
Hollywood is busy today with several protests underway for the 106th anniversary of the Armenian genoid.
