EXCLUSIVE: Pasha Lychnikoff set for recurring role in USA’s fifth season Queen of the South, and also joined David Leitch’s upcoming action thriller High-speed train. Season 5 of Queen of the south is currently in production and is expected to return this spring.
With Alice Braga, Queen of the south is based on the best-selling book La Reina del Sur by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. It tells the story of Teresa Mendoza (Braga), a woman forced to flee the Mexican cartel and take refuge in America.
Lychnikoff will play Kostya. Wearing military under his Saville Row suit, Kostya exudes power and confidence. Vicious, calculating and extremely dangerous, he is a man who watches his surroundings with icy intensity. Underworld oligarch and war criminal, enemy of the state, channeling billions into the Cold War Redux, he is wanted by the CIA. However, he has been a ghost – and until now – he has been untouchable. A chess master playing several games at once in his head, he remained out of reach. Kostya is insidiously ingenious and extremely deadly.
David T. Friendly is executive producer of the series alongside executive producers and co-showrunners Dailyn Rodriguez and Ben Lobato. The series is co-produced by 20th Television, which is part of Disney Television Studios, and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Lynchnikoff also joined Leitch’s ensemble troupe High-speed train, based on the novel by Kōtarō Isaka Maria beetle, alongside Brad Pitt, Joey King and Lady Gaga. His other credits include Deadwood, shameless, a good day to die hard, Ray Donovan and Siberia. Her Lionsgate / Starz International show, Insomnia was released in January on Crackle in the United States. He is replaced by Stewart Talent and Industry Entertainment.
