New Canon 4K camcorder (plus more cameras) on the horizon

Leaked reports of new Canon cameras are slowly seeping through …

With NAB 2021 less than three months away, leaks and rumors are popping up with big names across the board. (Like a new Canon EOS R3, anyone?)

And after new reports, Canon is once again the newest manufacturer to offer a new range of cameras – and perhaps a few more.

It’s not big news to start with, but it looks like Canon will be releasing a new 4K professional camcorder in August that should turn at least some heads in the film and video community.

Let’s take a look at this new Canon 4K camcorder and what to expect from the camera and brand that will evolve in the future.

Professional 4K Canon camcorder

There aren’t too many specific specs or details here yet, but we can guess a lot from this leaked announcement from Canon Rumors.

A new “professional 4K Canon camcorder” is slated for release this summer, and it should be at least roughly comparable in terms of price and function Canon XF705 4K.

Of course, with its 1.0-inch CMOS sensor and 4K UHD 4: 2: 2 10-bit video recording, this XF705 has proven to be a solid Canon workhorse camcorder for run-and-gun video production needs such as commercial and business documentaries , and the built-in lens with 15x optical zoom

However, according to the same reports, this new camcorder could be a little below these specs, and possibly closer to that Canon EOS C70that this new camcorder will share at least similar codec options.

More Canon cameras soon?

Without a doubt, this is just one of Canon’s first leaks as we are on the cusp of another exciting and eventful NAB season.

As we all know, NAB 2020 had to be canceled due to COVID-19, and this year’s follow-up has been postponed from the usual April date to October.

To say there is a backlog of flashy camera releases and news would be an understatement.

Stay tuned as the coverage picks up over the next few months folks!
