It’s 2006, and we only have a few years left for social media to become the rage it is today. Neha Kakkar, who currently runs the music industry, had just turned 18 and was known for her appearance on the Indian Idol Season 2 reality show. Even before all the hubbub on the internet, the rumors were a misplaced part of entertainment journalism.

It happened that a girl of the same name as Neha Kakkar committed suicide, but unrelated news channels thought it was the singer who died. Neha was pronounced dead when the news broke on various news channels.

In his conversation with the Hindustan Times, Neha Kakkar said: “I am alive. I am alive and well. My God, I can’t explain what it feels like to be declared dead when you’re alive. My family and I find it hard to tell people that I wasn’t the one who killed myself last night.

Neha then said: “I left Delhi for Mumbai on Saturday evening. At the same time, the incident happened. My absence from home further added to the confusion. Several people have speculated that this could be due to a controversy that we deliberately deny. Even the local police were there.

Neha Kakkar also complained that the news channels did not even apologize and address the issue. She concluded by saying, “There was great news that declared me dead, but when I informed them that I was alive, they just brushed it off. As I was on my way to the airport when a news channel first broadcast this news, she thought I probably died in a traffic accident. Thank goodness they got the confirmation before I boarded the flight. I wonder what would have happened to my family if the news had been released after I got on board and after I turned off the phone.
