Famous friends have backed former actress Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, amid allegations of intimidation by royal assistants at Buckingham Palace.

As Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying it would launch an investigation into the matter, Meghan called it a “calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful disinformation”.

Friends in Hollywood including Suits co-star Patrick J Adams, Chance The Rapper, Halle Berry tweeted in support of Meghan Markle.

Patrick J Adams left a long clarification in favor of Meghan Markle. Her tweet began: “Meghan Markle and I have spent most of a decade working together on Suits. From day one she was an enthusiastic, kind, cooperative, generous, joyful and supportive member of our TV family. She remained that person and colleague as fame, prestige and power accumulated.

‘It sickened me to read the endless racist, slanderous and baiting vitriol spewed in her direction through all kinds of media across the UK and the world, but I also knew Meghan was stronger than people thought it or didn’t understand and they would regret having underestimated it, ” Patrick J Adam continued with a few more tweets.

Roxane Gay tweeted: “These UK newspapers really cannot tolerate Prince Harry loving a black woman. He was right to leave. I don’t even think it’s a difficult decision. They will never stop trying to tear Meghan apart. It is absolutely ludicrous. And for her family to question that decision, and do all of those passive, aggressive things to try and get ahead of the Oprah interview.

Gay continued, “To punish him for protecting his wife and babies. Smh. Too bad. I know they are doing well but I feel for them anyway.

Gabrielle Union, 48, retweeted Gay’s posts and tweeted a ‘Sure, Jan’ GIF from ‘The Brady Bunch’, along with a Times of London report claiming Meghan faced a bullying complaint by one of his “closest advisers” at Kensington Palace.

“Do you all find yourself getting angry like HELL every time they talk about Duchess Meghan’s side?” Chance the Rapper tweeted.

Halle Berry, who is not very active on microblogging sites, made an exception, saying, “It’s always protecting black women.”
