In the end, it is the charismatic performances of Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi that keep us rooted. Vijay dances like a dream and puts his freshness to good use in college scenes. He also manages to sell the times when he needs to offer advice. With many heroes, these parts might have seemed preachy, but here they feel right. And Vijay Sethupathi manages to steal the show. His laid back acting style only heightens Bhavani’s cruelty. The final showdown between the two actors has some exciting moments, helping to end the film on a high note.

Overall, Master lives up to the pre-release expectations and hype and Lokesh manages to deliver a hat-trick of films that are most definitely above par and almost unbelievable. Master is indeed the mass commercial animator that we have been waiting for for almost a year.

There are many times of “thalapathy” and it is raised by it to a great extent. But as a full movie you may or may not be satisfied. In a nutshell, Master is nothing but the good versus the bad routine which is treated in a different way. There is a lot of stunt footage in the movie and you feel the actions are overkill in some places. Some fight sequences in the second half could have been cut because they give no impact. The collegial streaks of the first half have no peaks. The truck / bow and arrow sequence goes to the sea and makes Vijay a larger than life character. The film does not allow you to breathe a sigh of relief because the stunts follow one another continuously. Also, the emotional factor (which is the reason for Vijay’s reform) doesn’t hit you hard. The pace of the film is also quite worrying.

Ultimately, Master is a different Vijay movie as well as a different Lokesh movie. The thalapathy continues to grow more and more as Lokesh also leaves his mark in the genre of “mass heroes”. He makes a “kutty” appearance in the end credits and proudly presents his image as a fan of Kamal again by listing Nammavar (Kamal’s star in 1994) as part of Master’s filmography. Despite his problems with rhythm and length, ‘JD’ Vijay and ‘Bhavani’ Vijay are worth it. More interesting ‘mass’ movies from Lokesh are expected.Verdict: Good fun for this festival season

The Master sets off from the start and presents the interesting moments one after the other. With the arrival of Vijay on the screen, the storyline grows and never decreases at any time. Lokesh Kanagaraj turned out to be a fanboy and delivered Master as a celebration of Vijay the star, with plenty of creepy mass moments for fans to celebrate and rejoice in. Pitting against another much-loved hero, Vijay Sethupathi, as an antagonist against Vijay, Lokesh Kanagaraj has etched his character in such a way that he entertains with his unique villainy. Aside from a lot of positives, Master also has its fair share of flaws, as the film has a very simple plot and procedure without too many twists and turns, with most of the characters not having enough reach to play. With several prolonged and unnecessary moments, the second half is long and drags in places. Nonetheless, this is a Vijay – Vijay Sethupathi show, perfectly orchestrated by Lokesh, which is very well supported by the rich technical team. All says, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Master is a fanboy ode to Vijay, which makes this festive season even more festive, with a mass-action treat for Thalapathy Vijay fans. Don’t miss this artist from Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj.
