Lucy Liu signed on to play villainous Kalypso in Shazam! Fury of the gods, the highly anticipated sequel to 2019 Shazam! by New Line and DC Films. Liu joins star Zachary Levi, returning to reprise his title role, as well as new cast members Rachel Zegler and Helen Mirren, who will play the villainous Hespera, daughter of Atlas and sister of Kalypso.
David F. Sandberg is back directing a screenplay by Henry Gayden, based on the DC character created by Bill Parker and CC Beck. The sequel will continue the story of teenage Billy Batson reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!” is struck by the living lightning bolt of the gods and transformed into his adult superhero alter ego, Shazam.

Liu, who starred for seven seasons in the popular CBS drama Elementary, most recently seen in the dark comedy CBS All Access series Why do women kill. On the cinema side, Liu is known for her performances in blockbusters like the charlie’s angels movies and Kill Bill.
Liu is replaced by Framework Entertainment, ICM Partners and Schreck Rose.
