Paramount + has delivered Star Trek: Lower Bridges an early renewal for a third season, before the animated series returns for its second season later this summer. The third season will last 10 episodes.
During the First Contact Day virtual event on Monday, Paramount + revealed that Star Trek: Lower Bridges will return for the second season on Thursday August 12.
Developed and Created by Emmy Winner Mike McMahan, Star Trek: Lower Decks highlights the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s smaller ships, the USS Cerritos, in 2380. Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi must go about their jobs and their lives social, often during rocked by a multitude of science fiction anomalies. The vocal cast of the animated series includes Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noel Wells and Eugene Cordero. Dawnn Lewis, Jerry O’Connell and Gillian Vigman are also part of the cast.
Lower decks is the first animated series of the Star Trek franchise.
The series is produced by Eye Animation Productions of CBS, the new animation arm of CBS Studios; Secret lair; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin of Secret Hideout, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth of Roddenberry Entertainment and Katie Krentz (219 Productions) are executive producers alongside creator and showrunner Mike McMahan. Aaron Baiers is co-executive producer. Titmouse serves as the animation studio for the series.
