ITV has confirmed this hit entertainment show Love island will be reverted to its summer schedule after last year’s sunny dating format was derailed by the coronavirus pandemic.
ITV Content Manager Kevin Lygo said Love island will be back after being off the air for about a year. The final season was a winter version, filmed in South Africa by ITV Studios for ITV2.
His confirmation follows ITV CEO Carolyn McCall, who said last month that this year’s season is on the line as Covid-19 continues to rampage across Europe.
“We will want to put Love island on air because it has been off the air for a little while [after] we didn’t do it last summer. We are looking at all of our options at the moment because the pandemic is making it difficult, ”she told the BBC.
The Daily Mirror reported this week that the island of Jersey has been identified as a reserve for the Love Island’s traditional house in Mallorca, international travel should be limited when filming is to take place.
