Kim Nam-Joon’s English Classes Had FRIENDS Touch – Find Out How
Kim Nam-Joon aka RM has a legion of followers around the world. He is the frontman and lead rapper of K-Pop superhit group, BTS. We see that he speaks to the maximum when the group travels abroad. This is because he is more fluent in the language than other members of BTS. And you will be surprised how he mastered the English language. He did not take English lessons or hire a private tutor.
Kim Nam-Joon or RM learned English through the sitcom, FRIENDS. When he received a visit from Ellen DeGeneres on her show, he said he learned English through the FRIENDS show. It seems that his mother gave him ten DVDs of the whole series. RM first watched it in Korean with English subtitles. Later he watched it in English with Korean subtitles. Finally, he watched it in full English.
RM said Chandler was his favorite of FRIENDS. He is also a fan of the romance of Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston). It is not uncommon for people to learn English from songs and movies. In Korea, English is not taught as a first language like in Indian schools. But RM is known to be a brilliant student with an above average IQ.
