Searchlight Pictures is in final talks with Kelvin Harrison Jr. on board for the title role in Knight of St. George. Searchlight landed Stefani Robinson’s original feature last summer with Guardians director, Stephen Williams, on board to direct.
Born in 1745 in the French Caribbean, De Saint-Georges was the illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner. He reached improbable heights in French society, dazzling both as a violinist and composer, and as a champion fencer. An unhappy love affair with a French nobleman and a falling out with Marie-Antoinette and her court led to her untimely downfall.
Element Pictures, Robinson and Dianne McGunigle will produce. The project is overseen by Production SVP DanTram Nguyen, Production Manager Zahra Phillips and Production Manager Cornelia Burleigh.
Harrison star on the rise after breakout roles in critically acclaimed film Waves as good as It comes at night and Monsters and men. It was most recently seen in The Chicago 7 trial as the leader of the Black Panther Fred Hampton as well as The photograph.
He is replaced by Stride Management, WME and lawyer Nina Shaw.
