On Thursday, some of actress Kangana Ranaut’s tweets were deleted by the microblogging site, which said the posts were breaking their rules.
The digital platform’s move comes after the actress launched a rant against international pop sensation Rihanna for supporting the ongoing farmer protest. Kangana called singer Rihanna ap * rn a “p * rn star” and left-wing role model.
Both tweets, which were deleted, were linked to protests by farmers.
Shortly after, Twitter sent a statement explaining their move.
“We took action on Tweets that violated Twitter rules in accordance with our range of enforcement options,” said a Twitter spokesperson.
One tweet, viewed as derogatory and downcast by the platform, was one where Kangana Ranaut called several Indian cricketers “Dhobi ka Kutta”. The other shot was for Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu.
In January, Kangana said her Twitter account had been temporarily restricted.
It came after Kangana Ranaut made controversial remarks about the creators of the Tandav web series through a post. In the now deleted tweet, Kangana said it was “time to unstuck”, for allegedly insulting the Hindu gods.
