John Oliver reacts to Regé-Jean Page’s exit from Bridgerton – Deadline

While many fans are still in shock at Friday’s official announcement that Regé-Jean Page will not be returning to Netflix and Shondaland BridgertonJohn Oliver takes the news in stride and finds it appropriate for Page’s character, Simon, the Duke of Hastings.

Oliver referred to Page’s departure in the main segment of his HBO show. Last week tonight On Sunday, the focus was on the growing US national debt. Each of Julia Quinn’s eight Bridgerton novels, on which the Netflix series is based, centers around one of the Bridgerton siblings.

Season 1, based on the premiere Bridgerton delivered, The duke and me, chronicled the radical romance of Simon (Page) and Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor).

The second season will be about the search for a suitable marriage for Bridgerton’s older brother, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), as shown in the second book, The viscount who loved me.

Page’s departure was announced by Bridgerton ‘s Lady Whistledown, accompanied by a message from the show: “Your grace, it has been a pleasure”.

Page responded on Twitter. “Pleasure and privilege! An honor to be a member of the family – on and off screen, the cast, crew and incredible fans – love is real and will continue to grow, ”he wrote.
