EXCLUSIVE: Three-time Primetime Emmy nominee Jenifer Rice-Genzuk Henry came on board to write an untitled basketball feature for Disney + that Steph Curry is in talks to produce.
I’m told the film, which is in early development and under the hood, ties into the recent Disney Investor Day announcement of three original films in the works, based on the lives of NBA stars Giannis Antentokounmpo and Chris. Paul with UCLA Coach Keanon Lowe.
Henry received three Outstanding Primetime Comedy Series names for his co-EP work on Blackish. She is also the EP of the Freeform spinoff comedy series Cultivated-ish. Henry also co-writes with Kenya Barris the new Cheaper by the dozen film for Disney +. In October 2018, it signed a global agreement with ABC Studios whose cable / streaming division, ABC Signature, produces Cultivated.
Prior to Blackish, Henry was EP in the long-running comedy series The game and wrote about several studio features.
Prior to becoming a writer, Jeni Henry, aka Jeni G., was a member of the R & B / pop trio Before Dark, whose single “Monica” reached No. 7 on Billboard’s sales charts. She toured the country with Christina Aguilera and Destiny’s Child while simultaneously completing her BS degree from USC.
She is replaced by Scott Schwartz of Vision Art Management, New Wave Entertainment and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
