With this new RF14-35mm F4 L lens, Canon has created the largest range of focal lengths and functions of all wide-angle zoom lenses.
If you’ve been following the rumors about the new Canon EOS R3, you’ll likely be excited to hear about this new zoom lens too, the Canon has just launchedthat appears to be the ultimate companion lens.
In my lens bag, my wide-angle zoom lenses are by far the most wanted lens. I love taking wide angle shots, I love getting the chivo look anytime, and when it comes to wide angle zoom lenses that deliver both dramatically beautiful photos and videos Canon has always been known for legendary quality (especially on the L series).
As the auto focus features (along with full frame and optical stabilization) become increasingly important, Canon’s new RF 14-35mm F4 L IS USM lens appears to be the ultimate wide-angle lens for their latest camera versions. This lens is designed for use with the EOS R full frame mirrorless cameras, including the new EOS R3.
The lens is light at a modest 1.2 lbs (which makes it very gimbal friendly) and offers up to 5.5 levels of built-in optical image stabilization. This results in very sharp images in poor lighting conditions (as faster shutter speeds can still be used).
Some key features of the lens include:
- Compact and balanced design (1.2 lbs weight)
- Minimum focus distance of 7.9 inches
- Optical image stabilizer with 5.5 f-stops for camera shake correction
- High speed AF
- Dust and weather resistance (like other L-series lenses)
The lens will retail for an estimated $ 1,699 and should be available in August 2021.
