A new firmware update offers a number of new functions for the Insta360 ONE R..
With 4K recording, voice control and an adaptive design, the Insta360 ONE R. is one of the most versatile action cameras on the market. Today the company released a firmware update that takes the camera to a new level, including improved stabilization, loop recording and a 4K 50p mode. Let’s take a look.
Horizon Lock for 4K Mod and 1-inch Mod
Horizon adjustment is now available for the 4K and 1-inch models, making it easier to stabilize action-intensive scenes. When enabled, the horizon lock will keep the footage upright and level when shooting in Pro Video (FlowState Stabilization) mode at 30 frames per second.
There are two options available in this mode.
The 360 ° horizon lock for horizon alignment at full revolutions exports a narrow field of view. 45 ° Horizon Lock is intended for moderate shocks that export a wider field of view. Insta360 stated that the 45 ° Horizon Lock is a little delayed. So look for it in another firmware update.
A new feature of ONE R is loop recording for continuous video recording, in which previously recorded film material is deleted so that new film material can be recorded. With any lens mod, the ONE R can be used as a dash cam with a maximum video length of 30 minutes.
4K 50p video
Also new to the 4K and 1-inch models is a 4K 50p video option in pro video mode. In addition, the vivid color profile of the 1-inch model has been completely redesigned, with more vivid colors coming straight from the camera. Also, Insta360 has added four different in-camera sharpness options for all ONE R models.
On the app page, they added new Shot Lab templates.
Horizon Flip will automatically mirror your surroundings in the sky for a futuristic effect, and Overtaker will overlay the video with a video game-like style on top of the video. In addition, shooters can apply AquaVision 2.0 to footage, an underwater color correction that makes colors more realistic. AquaVision 2.0 is available for all ONE R-Mods, including the 360 model.
Car MultiView is another new editing feature that shows a split screen of the road and the vehicle interior. With the ONE R 360 model mounted on the windshield or dashboard, the camera captures a full, wide-angle view in both directions.
Insta360 added several other improvements including:
- TimeShift videos are now automatically accelerated up to 6x before they are saved, saving you storage space
- Audio recordings with external microphones with ONE R have been improved
- A new Roadie Remote accessory is now available, a wireless Bluetooth remote control that attaches to the car’s steering wheel to safely control the camera while driving
The company also says that the ONE X2 will receive the updates for Shot Lab, AquaVision 2.0 and Car MultiView in the future.
The update is free for all ONE R users and is available via the Insta360 app (iOS and Android) and the studio desktop software (Windows and Mac). You can download the latest Here.
