Actor Mukul Chadda plays a central role in the upcoming web series “Sunflower”, an original murder mystery set in a housing corporation. He shares anecdotes of weird rules that often exist in the city’s housing societies.
Recalling his earliest memories of finding a rented apartment upon arriving in Mumbai, Mukul Chadda says that after a while it became a game in his mind as to the weird rule he would hear from the next company of housing.
“There are housing companies where dogs are not allowed, singles are not allowed. In one company, the owner told me that he was not encouraging any Bollywood member in the company and therefore, being an actor, they would not give me the apartment. I left another housing company because of their discriminatory attitude towards a specific religious group. Although they have nothing against me, if a housing company has such a negative attitude towards people because of their religious identity, I would rather not stay there, ”Mukul told IANS.
However, according to Mukul Chadda, the most remarkable things happen to young couples alive!
“As we know, it is difficult to get a house for living couples. Many people carry fake marriage certificates to rent a house. A couple of friends rented accommodation and told the company that ‘They were married. Eventually they got married but on their wedding day they couldn’t invite any of their neighbors because, in the eyes of society, they were officially already married! They went out, got married and came back to the building like an ordinary couple, not dressed like honeymooners! he signed with a laugh.
The “Sunflower” web series revolves around a murder that takes place in a housing corporation. The show also features Sunil Grover, Ranvir Shorey, Girish Kulkarni, Shonali Nagrani, Sonal Jha and Ashish Vidyarthi, among others, and releases on Zee5 on June 11.
