HBO has found one of its leads for the next one The last of us series. The fidgetcube confirmed that The iron Throne Bella Ramsey, known for playing the role of battling but courageous Lyanna Mormont, will play Ellie.
While HBO has yet to announce who will appear as Ellie’s sidekick, Joel, the series based on Neil Druckmann’s 2013 video game is getting into shape. In January, the first cable network announced that Bean coxswain Kantemir Balagov will lead the pilot. Druckmann will team up with Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin to write the TV adaptation.
The last of us takes place 20 years after modern civilization was destroyed by a disease that makes mutant victims dangerous and bloodthirsty. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts off as a small job soon turns into a brutal, mind-boggling journey, as an unlikely duo depend on each other for survival.
The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television. PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog are producing. Druckmann and Mazin produce alongside Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells of Naughty Dog and Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions.
In addition to his memorable character on The iron Throne, Ramsey also appeared in HBO’s Her dark materials, the worst witch, two for joy and Princess emmy. It is taken over by Conway van Gelder Grant and Gang Tire.
HBO first announced the video game series in March, with the series receiving an official series order in November. Eight years after the first game, Naughty Dog was released The Last of Us Part II in June. The sequel’s game won a number of Game Awards in December, including Game of the Year.
