Fox’s “ WWE Friday Night SmackDown ” takes back its throne – Deadline

Just two days away from its annual Royal Rumble PPV, Fox’s WWE Friday Night SmackDown teased this event with a few special features, highlighted by a 10-player squad event.

That and the return of Braun Strowman and the ongoing war of words between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens led to a 0.6 for the two hour show, which topped the demo wars of the night.

Right behind was a repeat of ABC Shark aquarium, who has been the leader of the field for several weeks, and a new episode of NBC The blacklist. The latter has just been renewed for a ninth season.

CBS had a night of reruns of its crime drama programming, but Blue Bloods managed the night’s largest total audience with 4.32 million viewers.

In Friday’s showdowns in the newsmag, NBC Dateline and ABC 20/20 both had a 0.4, with Dateline’s “killer grandmother” feature boasting of the wider audience of the two.

At The CW, a new episode of Who owns it anyway? in the 20 hour slot entered with a 0.2, followed by a repeat. A new Penn & Teller is cheating on us got a 0.1 to end the network night.
