Independent production company Flying Fish, the newly launched joint venture of the writers and producers of Friends of fishermen, signed a three-year multi-picture distribution contract with theatrical distributor Entertainment Film Distributors (EFD).
Flying Fish was created by James Spring of Fred Films and filmmakers Nick Moorcroft and Meg Leonard, whose comedy hit Friends of fishermen grossed $ 10 million at the UK box office via EFD, as well as Find your feet, which took almost $ 8 million and was also released by EFD.
The deal will cover upcoming titles, including a Friends of fishermen sequel, currently in pre-production, and the recently announced untitled biopic Captain Sir Tom Moore. Moorcroft and Leonard are co-writing original screenplays for both films. The company is also collaborating with Roy Williams on a biopic Levi Roots.
“We are delighted to have found a home at EFD. Nigel Green is not only one of the most successful independent film distributors in the world, but he is a true champion of British independent cinema. We look forward to working with him and his passionate and talented team over the next few years to bring theaters a wide range of commercial films for audiences, ”said Spring, Moorcroft and Leonard of Flying Fish.
“We are delighted to be working again with the talented and creative Nick Moorcroft and Meg Leonard and UK lead producer James Spring. Our collaboration on Saint-Trinian movies and Friends of fishermen were not just box office hits, but some of the most enjoyable experiences we’ve ever had due to the enthusiasm, commitment and professionalism of everyone involved. We are extremely happy to be working with them again on these new projects, ”said Nigel Green of EFD.
