EXCLUSIVE: On the heels of the just-aired finale of his well-received new drama series Leader, Fauda and Shtisel The company Yes Studios orders a second course, officially giving the green light for a second season of the Israeli drama.
Created by Erez Kavel and Orit Dabush, the nine-episode drama debuted in Israel last November and was the second most-watched drama on yesTV this year, following the third season of the hit crime thriller. Fauda.
The series comes from Yes Studios and Kastina Communications and follows an unemployed high-tech worker who begins working in the kitchen of a prestigious restaurant run by a brilliant chief, which struggles to stay relevant and maintain its place at the top of Tel Aviv’s ultra-competitive gastronomic world.
The ‘Fauda’ and ‘Shtisel’ outfits are in the works for the biggest production to date, the family saga ‘The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem’
The drama explores the toxic masculinity and the fragility of the male ego through the juxtaposition of the two male characters. The new cook is a father who crumbles under the weight of his responsibilities and his mundane existence, while the chief is single, hedonistic and egotistical, seemingly at the top of her game.
The producers are Ayelet Imberman and Meny Aviram. Starring are Gal Toren (Apple TV + Losing Alice), Guri Alfi Aaron, Rotem Sela (Beauty and the baker), Yael Elkana, Omer Etzion and Gitit Fischer.
Toren won the award for Best Principal Performance in a Drama Series at the Berlin Virtual TV Series Festival in September for his performance in the series. Leader was also an official selection at the Zurich Film Festiva and at the SerienCamp Festival in Munich.
