Zayn Malik has joined the growing list of stars who have taken on Grammy bosses, insisting that the awards show has little to do with talent.
As Recording Academy officials prepare for this year’s awards show on Sunday (March 14, 21), the former One Direction star revealed he’s never been a fan of music’s big night or people behind the scenes.
In a surprise tweet, new daddy Zayn Malik blows up, “F ** k the grammys and everyone associated. Unless you shake hands and send gifts, there is no consideration for the nomination. Next year, I’ll send you a basket of sweets.
It’s unclear what motivated Zayn Malik’s attack, but it comes after Grammy bosses were hammered by critics for failing to honor The Weeknd with a single 2021 nomination, despite his stellar 2020, during from which he broke records with his album After Hours and single Blinding Lights, which this week scored a full year in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
The Canadian star previously targeted Grammy bosses after snubbing his nominations, writing, “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the transparency of the industry… ”
Zayn later admitted that he had been “blinded” by the snub. (KL / WNTWT / LOT)
