The second wave of the deadly coronavirus plunged India into one of the world’s biggest crises. The country is struggling due to the lack of medical supplies, oxygen concentrators and cylinders among many problems. That being said, netizens took to social media in April to post SOS tweets, request resources, raise money through fundraisers, provide food for COVID-19 patients, and more. Even celebrities are doing all they can by setting up hospital beds for people, donating money and running fundraisers. A similar thing was done by Indian fans of South Korean group EXO. EXO fans often donate to charity on each member’s birthday. Called EXO-L, they raised Rs. 1 lakh and donated the money to the respective organizations on the birthday of member Byun Baekhyun.

EXO’s Manipur fanbase revealed that Rs. 90,000 of the money raised was donated to Mission Oxygen and Rs. 10,000 was donated to Chief Miniter’s Relief Fund. “With the current Covid-19 crisis, life has been very difficult for everyone. With all the hospitals overwhelmed, it was difficult for the whole country. As always, we meet every day as an EXO member. On this Baekhyun Day, we decided to donate to “Mission Oxygen” to help hospitals across India have immediate access to oxygen concentrators. We harvested just over 1Lac in 3 days, ”the press release said.

Baekhyun celebrated his 29th birthday (30 years in the Korean age system) on May 6 and enlisted in the military for compulsory service as a public service officer.
