Now you can view and download 480,000 works of art from the Louvre.
The pandemic has forced us all inside, and while it appears to be nearing its end, you may not yet have the means or the ability to travel to Paris to see some of the most important works of art in the world.
Now you can view the artworks of the Louve online.
We’re not just talking about the famous paintings, we’re talking about all of the art they own. By the new portal collection.louvre.frYou have access to every single one of the works of art in the museum online.
That’s almost half a million pieces.
It seems overwhelming, but the sections are broken down into categories such as Drawings and engravings, Sculptures, Furniture, textiles, Jewelry and plaster, Writing and inscriptions, Objects, and of course painting. There’s even a search bar. They even have themed albums like masterpieces, new acquisitions, and more.
Why is this so great for filmmakers?
I think art can inspire some of the best movie ideas out there. You can use the images to create beats or visuals. Or even for framing to show your cameraman what scenes should look like, or as lighting references.
Apart from that, you can use it to create lookbooks and mood rolls and even print them out and use them for decorating sets.
“For the first time,” says a recent press release“The entire Louvre collection is Available onlinewhether works are exhibited in the museum, on long-term loan or stored in other French institutions. “
Free resources like these are hard to come by and especially important to the creative process. The more art and creation you bring into your brain, the better you can work out your own expressions.
This is not a fact, just a theory that I have, but I stand by it.
So what will you see first What pieces do you think everyone should see and appreciate on this website?
